Aside from a trio of witches that can hold its own with Eastwick's in the dishiness department, Oz the Great and Powerful is a peculiarly joyless occasion.. The more you like the Judy Garland film, the more you might appreciate "Oz the Great and Powerful.". The new Oz falls short of the 1939 Oz in charm and innocence, and certainly in songs.
